thirty-eight and ten

The Suns (38 - 10) pulled it out. This one was a tough game, and Nash didn't even play during the entire second half because of a hurt right shoulder. Denver (23 - 23) was only down by one point after the first quarter, and then they turned it on, leading by seven at the half. Carmelo Anthony had his first career triple double last night: 31 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists. He was something to watch; I don't care what team he was on. The Suns went back to work in the third quarter and were up by two going into the fourth. The Nuggets had been up by as many as ten in the first half, but the Suns came back to be up by nine in the second. The last few seconds of the game had more scoring from both teams than much longer stretches of time earlier in the game, with the foul shots by the Suns and the quick layups by the Nuggets on the other end of the floor. It looked as if the Suns might choke in the last 24 seconds, but their foul shots were good and they held off Carmelo and the Nuggets with a 113 - 108 win. With Nash on the bench, the others took up the charge. Stat (Standing Tall And Talented) went to work, and earned himself a double double with a game-high 36 points along with 13 rebounds. Marion was only one rebound away from his own double double, and he did a great job against Anthony, even though Anthony got his triple double. They fought hard, and Raja Bell was back in the line-up, which definitely improved the three-point shooting, as well as defense. The Suns (without Nash?) take on the Trailblazers (20 - 29) tonight in Portland at 8pm AZ time.
