We got to Banner Thunderbird Medical Hospital this morning around 9am or so. We were supposed to have a bed this morning at 6am, but Amy called at 5 and there was none available. They told us they’d call back with a vacancy. The hospital called us just before 8am saying there was an opening, but we had to get ready and wait for Francy to come to watch Aidan. Francy came about 9 and we left immediately. They almost gave our bed away, since it had taken us so long to get here after the phone call, but we made it in time to keep it. The room we are in is about double the size that Aidan’s delivery room was, and the air conditioning is working this time, too. Amy is on a brand new bed, which she says is a lot more comfortable this time.
I am writing this as the nurse has just told us that Amy is ready to go, totally dilated; it’s about 3:30pm . Amy just looked at me and said, “Did you hear that? We’re ready to go.” “She’s complete,” is what I just heard the nurse say to the other nurses outside. Daddy-O is calling Zsa-gi (Francy) to let her know to get here soon. Amy’s told me to put this laptop down, so I am.
I’m back. She pushed for about 10 minutes but Kate didn’t drop far enough, so we’re going to wait more until Kate comes down farther naturally, without pushing, that is. The doctor was also here and told us that I could not use the Leatherman this time to cut the umbilical cord. I didn’t appreciate how the doctor went about it, but I can understand her desire for things to be sterile. The doctor tends to talk down to us in a higher pitched voice (like a voice intended for little children) and I don’t appreciate it. I am sure that I don’t like it because it is an insult to my intelligence and that is my kingdom she’s assaulting. I would say it was a sinful reaction, and I really should just let it go because she doesn’t define me, nor does my intellect, Christ does. So, now we wait and see how the next 30-60 minutes go waiting for Kate to do her thing naturally. After that, Amy will push again.
Katelyn Anaya was born at 1632! 4:32pm for my little girl. She is beautiful. I will make sure there are lots and lots of pictures posted numerous places for all to see. Amy did beautifully. Kate is now feeding (5:05pm) after being weighed at 6 lbs. 12.2 ounces and measured at 20 inches in length. She was cleaned up, and I got to hold her as Amy was still being cleaned up herself. Amy says that Kate is already a pretty good eater. “Gosh, she’s so small. Especially compared to Aidan,” Amy just said (5:10pm). I am waiting to get Mike and Francy back in here until Amy has finished feeding Kate her first meal. She has beautiful dark eyes like her mother (and Aidan) and has a similar facial structure to Aidan (like mine) as well. I have to say…I am a proud papa. She cried a lot more than Aidan did when she first came out. I can already see a difference in personality, but more of that I’m sure is still to come. I am very much looking forward with eager anticipation to her growth and progress. May the Lord bring her close to Him, save her soul, and glorify His name through her!Just as an added bonus: back in March of 2006, after Aidan was born, Amy said, " Wow, my heartburn is gone"; now in May of 2007, after Katelyn was born, Amy said, "Wow, I can breathe better now."
Dirk the Jerk got the NBA's MVP this year, but not by much. He shouldn't have won it to begin with, since Nash won it the last two years in a row and posted even better numbers this year. Steve Nash, Phoenix; 44; 74; 11; -; -; 1013Dirk isn't even in the running anymore, after an incredible first series loss to the 8th seed Golden State Warriors, who the Jazz are now leading 3 - 1 in their conference semi-finals. The Mavericks might have beaten the Warriors and knocked them out of the playoffs entirely if they hadn't sat down their stars, but I doubt they could have beaten them anyway, since the Mavs had lost all 3 of their other regular season meetings, as well. The Suns, on the other hand, did not have one team that defeated them every time they played. The Suns were even able to beat the #1 Mavs twice in a row at the end of the season, and the second time was a blowout! Nash should have won this award for the third time straight, but the voters were blind to how the Suns benefit more from Nash than the Mavs from Dirk. GO NASH! GO SUNS!
We are still waiting for Kate to come. She was due yesterday, I really thought that she would be early. I went to the Dr. again this morning, she seems surprised that Kate is so low and continues to move down and I haven't gone into labor. I am still 3 cm dilated, just waiting now. I really don't want to be induced again, not that it was a bad experience but I am not so sick this time and would like to wait. Unfortunately this isn't a really good time of year to be waiting. Adam has finals to give next week and is doing things for DVHS graduation. He has an interview tomorrow, and not to mention all of the graduations that we really want to go to for our kids from church. I am also taking a wedding on the 3rd of June and would like to at least be able to walk around well for that. Then the next week my cousins will be in town and we are off to HS camp at the end of the week. So, the sooner the better for Kate as of now. I feel like I am going to be pregnant forever...maybe that's just cause I have been for the past 2 years...I know God's timing is perfect, but its hard. I have started throwing up in my sleep again this past week. The other night I threw up and didn't really even fully wake up until I was already sitting up coughing and Adam was patting me on the back asking if I was OK. I think it's kind of scary that I was still mostly sleeping and could have not sat up or started coughing, God is a good protector. So I guess we are just waiting to see when they can get me into the hospital to induce me. Any time now Kate...
This game's officiating crew was absolutely pathetic. I could not believe the bad calls and the bad no calls that these refs made, or didn't make, as the case may be. The Suns came out with something to prove on the Spurs home floor, but the officials killed that momentum really quickly. As the picture shows above, D'Antoni was very upset with the officiating, he even received a technical as he yelled at the refs for not calling fouls on Bowen each time that he hit Nash at the top of the arch as he was setting up each play for about 10 trips down the floor. I personally was extremely upset with the calls. The Suns had a good size lead in the first and second quarters, but the officials quickly took that away. One play, specifically, that I remember that was called poorly, was when Tim Duncan lowered his head and his shoulder, powered his way in to the basket and got the defensive foul called on Marion. That would have been an offensive foul for anyone on the Suns, and it definitely was an offensive foul, but it was called not against Duncan but against the Suns. Marion got 26 points, Stat got 21, and Nash got 16 with 12 assists, as well. Nash was kneed by Bowen in the crotch, there was a foul called on him, but it should have been a flagrant foul, and the ESPN commentators agree with me. Stat got his 21 even though he had 2 quick early fouls and sat a lot in the first half, 2 quick 3rd quarter fouls, one quick 4th quarter foul, and Stat had 5 fouls, didn't play but 21 minutes, but he still got the 21 points. If he can stay out of foul trouble (meaning the refs have to call a beter game) then Stat will be a huge factor in this series. Even with all of the bad officiating, the Suns only lost 108 - 101. The Suns will try to even things up on San Antonio's floor on Monday night. Game 5 is back here on Wednesday night. GO SUNS!
